Mexico-based proptech company Pulppo has won the sixth edition of Acelerar España, an acceleration program for startups in Latin America seeking to expand into the Spanish market, website NovoBrief reports.

The company’s name is a play on the Spanish word “pulpo,” which means octopus.

Acelerar España is run by Endeavor, which is described on its website as “the leading global community of, by and for high impact entrepreneurs. We dream big, we scale and we give back to the community.”

According to Endeavor, “The startup [Pulppo] will now begin an eight-month accompanying period where Acelerar España will work remotely with the winning startup before they’re asked to spend five weeks in Madrid, where the team will integrate with the Spanish ecosystem and validate its business model with the goal of achieving its first contracts in the Iberian country.”

Pulppo, which was co-founded by Matias Gath (LinkedIn profile) and Agustin Iglesias (LinkedIn profile) in 2021, provides a software solution for estate agents that covers everything from property appraisals to home visits.

By the end of last year, the company was working with 30 real estate agencies in more than 15 cities in Mexico, Business Insider Mexico reports.

In January this year, Pulppo raised $5 million U.S. in seed funding from the likes of Y Combinator, Boost Capital and Saudi Arabia-based VC Daal.
