LinkedIn has started to test AI-powered personalized writing suggestions to help job seekers reach out to a hiring manager.

The new tool, rolling out to paying LinkedIn Premium subscribers only, uses generative AI with information from the user’s profile, the hiring manager’s profile, the job description, and the company of interest. From that information, the tool creates “a highly personalized draft message to get a conversation started,” according to a company LinkedIn post.

The announcement notes the generated text still needs to be reviewed and edited to “make it your own and convey your voice” before being sent on to a hiring manager.

The tool builds on LinkedIn’s AI-powered writing suggestions for LinkedIn Profiles, which mine users’ information to propose text for the “Headline” and “About” sections. That tool is also reserved for paying members.

Microsoft-owned LinkedIn is the largest professional networking site in the world, boasting 930 million members across 200 countries.
