Alma Finanssipalvelut, owned by Alma Media, has been granted a business license by Finland’s Financial Supervisory Authority to provide payment brokerage services in compliance with the Payment Institutions Act.

The payment services can be utilized, for instance, in vehicle sales transactions between customers. Up until now, payment brokerage in Alma Media services has been provided by partners, the company said in its news announcing the move.

“Payment brokerage supports Alma Media’s marketplace business, where the goal is to provide customers with a service that allows vehicle transactions to be carried out safely and smoothly in the service from start to finish,” said Kirsikka Isohanni, CEO of Alma Finanssipällvetten, quoted in the news.

Alma Media’s Consumer segment includes the multi-channel news and lifestyle media Iltalehti, real estate vertical Etuovi.com and rental site Vuokraovi.com, the automotive marketplace Autotalli.com as well as the housing and car trade systems that serve companies operating in these fields. The segment also houses Alma Media’s comparison services, including Autojerry, Urakkamaailma and Etua. Starting from Q2 of FY2021, Alma Media also reports Nettix’s marketplaces acquired in 2021 as part of its Alma Consumer division.

Alma Media also operates Alma Career, which houses Alma Media’s recruitment businesses in ten countries in Eastern Central Europe. The segment includes recruitment sites Jobly.fi, Jobs.cz, Prace.cz, CV Online, Profesia.sk, MojPosao.net and MojPosao.ba, the Seduo online training service and Prace za rohem.
