Allegro, the leader in b-to-c and e-commerce marketplaces and No. 2 in c-to-c classifieds in Poland, has launched its marketplace in the Czech Republic. On its launch day, there with approximately 100 million listings on Allegro.cz.
Allegro said that its expansion into the Czech Republic would benefit Polish sellers by widening their potential customer base. According to the company, up to three-quarters of sellers on Allegro.pl are interested in listing their products on the Czech site.
Listing offers on Allegro.cz does not require sellers on Allegro.pl to re-register — they simply need to adjust the appropriate settings in the sales panel on Allegro.pl. The platform also assists with translating offers between Polish into Czech and converting prices between Polish zloty and Czech koruna.
For Polish sellers, Allegro offers the option to ship products via DHL, DPD or Packeta, in addition to providing a comprehensive logistics service called One Fulfillment by Allegro.
Czech customers can take advantage of Allegro’s Smart logistics service, which offers unlimited deliveries of purchases, including those from Polish sellers.
Allegro has been expanding internationally for some time. It acquired Czech Republic-based e-commerce platform Mall Group and logistics business WeDo last year. These companies operate in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and Poland. It also launched an English-language version of Allegro.pl in early 2022.
In September 2022, the company appointed Jakub Jasiński as category manager for Central and Eastern Europe. He is responsible for driving Allegro’s growth outside of Poland.
Allegro’s revenue rose by 68.2% year on year (y-o-y) to PLN9 billion ($2.1 billion U.S.) in 2022, while consolidated adjusted EBITDA increased by 4.1% y-o-y to PLN2.2 billion ($513 million U.S.). At the end of 2022, Allegro had 14.1 million active buyers on its marketplace, up 4.2% over the previous 12 months.
