Ecommerce giant EBay has launched a dedicated platform for secondhand wedding wear.

The hub will offer bridal and bridesmaid dresses, accessories and vintage suits from such designers as Vera Wang and Vivienne Westwood.

According to research by the company, 74% of consumers in the U.K. would consider wearing a secondhand wedding outfit, while searches for used wedding dresses on the marketplace have recently jumped by 50%.

“As we approach peak wedding season, we hope our new wedding hub gives brides-to-be the option to get their dream wedding outfit, for a fraction of the price,” said Kirsty Keoghan, global GM of fashion at EBay.

She added that with today’s brides looking for more personalized wedding wear, by purchasing secondhand “you really can find those unique options, while increasing the lifespan of these amazing dresses — which are often only worn once.”

“With such a broad range of designer options available, there really is an outfit for everyone to dazzle in on their big day and options to suit all budgets, without compromising on style,” according to Keoghan.

Founded in 1995 by Pierre Omidyar, San Jose, California-based EBay says it has around 133 million active buyers and some 1.8 billion live listings in 190 markets around the world.
