Finland-based media and marketplace operator Alma Media has announced that Santtu Elsinen is to lead its marketplaces division from January next year. He will take over as CEO from Kari Kivelä, who will retire.

Elsinen (LinkedIn profile) has been Alma Media’s chief digital officer and a member of the group executive committee since 2016. He has been part of the executive team of Alma Media’s Consumer Business Segment since 2018.
Elsinen has been the chairman of the Finnish Media Federation’s technology working group since 2018 and holds directorships at such organizations as Digia Plc, the Media Industry Research Foundation of Finland, Arena Interactive Oy and Etua Oy.
He is also the chairman of Suomen Tunnistautumisosuuskunta and the owner of Winterfell Capital Oy.
The Alma Consumer segment includes the multi-channel news and lifestyle media brand Iltalehti, real estate vertical Etuovi.com, property rental site Vuokraovi.com and automotive marketplace Autotalli.com, in addition to such price-comparison sites as Autojerry, Urakkamaailma and Etua. The company acquired Nettix’s marketplaces in 2021.
Alma Media also operates in Sweden, the Baltics and Central Europe. It is listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
