Norway-based SaaS company Visma has acquired Netherlands-based CleverGig, which makes software that aims to unlock growth opportunities for small staffing and recruitment agencies across the Benelux region. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Headquartered in Amsterdam and founded in 2016, CleverGig currently has 150 customers and a team of 20.
This is Visma’s second acquisition in the region. Last year, it acquired Belgian HRtech company Beeple.
CleverGig’s software aims to help small-scale employment agencies connect temp workers and freelancers to ad-hoc assignments, according to a statement from the company. Belgium-based Beeple, on the other hand, provides larger recruitment companies with planning and communication tools to manage flexible shift schedules.
“What I like about Visma is that they say ‘integration kills innovation.’ We are not fully integrated with their other businesses. This takes a lot of time and energy and is often distracting. They allow their businesses to survive fairly independently. I think that is also positive for growth. We can just keep going but with a strong party behind us,” said Michel Pilet, founder and CEO of CleverGig.
Founded in 1996, Oslo-headquartered Visma says it has 15,000 employees and 1.2 million users across a variety of sectors in Europe and Latin America. With EUR2.1 billion ($2.3 billion U.S.) in revenue during 2022, Visma has acquired four companies this year to date. These including Identum, an identity and access management software provider, cloud ERP company Xubio and Moloni, a provider of cloud software for invoicing and point of sale.
