According to Spain-based Buscoresi, a rental platform for student accommodation, it has doubled the number of rooms on its site over the past 12 months, to more than 30,000. Operating in around 20 Spanish cities, Buscoresi is also present in Portugal (Lisbon and Porto) and is now looking to European cities outside of Iberia for growth.

Founded by Aitor Rodríguez (LinkedIn profile) and Víctor Ramírez (LinkedIn profile) in 2020 and headquartered in Barcelona, the company offers an online reservation system for verified rooms in student residences, which it says means that students can secure accommodation quickly and safely, enabling them to avoid long waiting times and complicated procedures.

In contrast to the U.S. and many other countries, most accommodation for college students in Spain is privately owned and operated.

Earlier this year, Rodríguez commented: “One of the main problems in the sector is the lack of digitization and traditional uses that hinder any type of reservation of places in residences … 2023 will be the year where we begin to apply the learnings to scale the business.”

According to Buscoresi, it had more than 500,000 users and revenue of €2.0 million in 2022.
