EBay has closed on its previously announced acquisition of Certilogo, the Milan-based company that uses AI to authenticate and provide digital IDs for second-hand fashion goods.

No price was disclosed, but the deal announcement said Certilogo will continue to be led by its CEO Michele Casucci.

“Through this acquisition, eBay will be able to offer brands secure, connected product solutions that are both flexible and compatible,” EBay VP Charis Marquez wrote in the announcement. “Brands will also be able to protect their customers from counterfeits and engage in recommerce through counterfeit-proof digital product passports.”

The AIM Group reported on the deal in May, and did a deep dive on how authentication services contribute to marketplace revenue here.
