EBay has put its Promoted Listings Advanced ads into general release, following its initial beta launch in 2021.

It is different to EBay’s regular Promoted Listings Ads, where sellers pay a fee only when an ad leads to a sale because Promoted Listings Advanced ads charges sellers on a cost-per-click (CPC) basis.

EBay has added features based on seller feedback to help them save time creating and managing campaigns, increased visibility of adverts and created performance evaluation tools.

EBay said that standard campaigns are quick and simple to set up and as you only pay when you sell, a low-risk way to boost visibility. Promoted Listings Advanced campaigns let users promote listings in premium placements and pay per click on the users advert.

Advanced campaigns provide higher visibility and offer users a daily budget, keyword targeting, keyword bidding and reporting. Listings promoted through Advanced campaigns involve bidding on preferred access to premium placements and paying per click. Standard campaigns have placements across EBay’s network. The same listing can be promoted using both Standard and Advanced campaigns.

According to EBay data covering September 2022 to February 2023, sellers can gain a 40% increase in items sold, on average, when using Promoted Listings Advanced, compared to non-promoted items.

The new product is only available to Above Standard or Top Rated sellers who have the required amount of account activity, though what is classified as “enough” has not been defined in the FAQs.
