Refurbished electronics marketplace Mobilfon.com has raised an undisclosed investment from the fund established to finance tech ventures by the leading mobile phone operator in Turkey, Turkcell, reports Webrazzi.
Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Istanbul, Mobilfon buys mobile phones, smartwatches, tablets, home appliances and other consumer electronics and repairs and resell them.
The resale marketplace recently introduced a new service, MobilfonFix, to dispatch a team for repairing and maintenance of handheld devices at any place of customer’s convenience.
Mobilfon CEO Ilker Tekin expects Turkcell’s investment to pique interest of other investors in the marketplace. The plan is afoot to roll out franchise model across the country, said Tekin.
The resale model is getting popular in Turkey with Mobilfon’s competitors, GetMobil and EasyCep, having raised investments to scale up their operation. Turkcell also poured cash into EasyCep following the latter’s $11 million U.S. Series A funding round at $100 million valuation.
