Expertwired, a marketplace for connecting pre-vetted experts to clients, has closed its operation two years after establishment, reports SiliconCanals.

Without sharing details about the closure decision, Expertwired CEO and founder, Reinier Huisman, announced this in a blog post.

Headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and founded in 2021, Expertwired enables its clients to take industry knowledge in audio-video consultation sessions from experts.

While experts determined their service fee on their own, Expertwired used to charge 20% platform fee on top of the expert rate, according to its website. There were additional fees for custom sourcing, interview transcripts and survey/poll questions.

“Expertwired pays out experts on average €400 per interview, but experts always choose their own rate. This makes Expertwired the highest paying platform for experts globally, while clients – who pay a markup of 20 percent platform fee – are always better off than through alternative ‘low-tech’ networks,” Huisman was quoted as saying.

Backed by MB Capital, Pop-up Qapital and former executives from Uber, Funda and Prosus, Expertwired raised €1 million in seed funding round in 2022.

“I am honored to have worked alongside such a remarkable group of individuals,” said Huisman. “I am immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together. Expertwired may be closing its doors, but the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and determination lives on in each of us.”
