Catawiki has appointed Morten Valther Graae Joergensen (above) as its new vice president of interiors.
Joergensen brings two decades of experience from such internationally-acclaimed interior brands as Vitra, Ege Carpets, and Haworth and is expected to solidify Catawiki’s position as a leading marketplace for special objects in Europe, according to a hiring announcement.
Catawiki, based in the Netherlands with operations also in Italy, France, Belgium Germany and Spain, generated $95 million U.S. in revenue last year in which it sold more than half a million interior objects.
His knack for interior design is inherited from his parents who led successful ventures in the industry. Prior to joining Catawiki, he was leading a design consultancy agency, according to the announcement.
Born and raised in Aarhus, Denmark, Joergensen oversaw global market expansions in the Middle East, India, and Asia Pacific. He also led a proptech company FridayPM, which provides hybrid workplace designing consultancy.
“The interest in interiors has reached unprecedented heights, and Morten will help make Catawiki the number one destination for design enthusiasts globally,” said Frederik de Beer, chief commercial officer at Catawiki.
On his appointment, Morten Joergensen commented: “I’m very excited to join Catawiki at such an incredible time in the company’s history and work alongside its passionate design and interior experts. The demand for unique and special interior objects is growing, and Catawiki is uniquely positioned to deliver quality and variety while remaining accessible. I look forward to delivering on the many opportunities ahead of us.”
