Taking aim at one of the rosier segments of the recruitment industry, LinkedIn has beefed up job-search features for nurses.

They include several new filters that let the 3 million nursing professionals on LinkedIn fine tune search to better match their qualifications and preferences, according to a Nov. 28 LinkedIn blog post. When users search for nursing roles, they can now hit an “all filters” button and target jobs fitting their specialty, shift, schedule and license.

The site has also added more than 65 nursing credentials and 35 skills that a nurse can add to their user profile, from pediatrics and neonatal to hospice and palliative care to home health. 

With nurse shortages an ongoing challenge for healthcare employers, nursing is a popular target for recruitment sites. Nursing employment over the next decade is expected to grow by 6%, double the labor market average, according to Nursing World.

Meanwhile, nurse supply will likely contract, with 20% of the aging workforce expected to leave the field within five years.

Those factors underlie a growing pool of job sites focused on nursing. In addition to niche stalwarts like Nomad Health and Intelycare, a number of newer companies attracted big investment this year. 

Dallas-based ShiftKey closed a $300 million round in January, and announced a $2 billion valuation. ShiftMed, based in McLean, Virginia, raised $200 million in February, while boasting a network of 350,000 nurses.
