Philipp Busse (above) has been appointed director of user experience (UX) design at Oslo-based marketplaces operator Adevinta. He joins the company from its Germany-based subsidiary Kleinanzeigen (formerly EBay Kleinanzeigen), where he was head of UX and design for more than four years.

He has also worked in UX for the likes Axel Springer Digital News Media, WeltN24 and TUI and is a graduate of Cologne University of Applied Sciences.

According to his LinkedIn profile, “I have a design background, over 15+ years of professional practice and 10 years of experience in building and managing high-performing teams across a diverse range of products, industries and functions.”

In a LinkedIn post, Busse wrote, “Goodbye Kleinanzeigen 👋🏼 Hello Kleinanzeigen, Leboncoin.fr, Subito, Marktplaats, InfoJobs, Milanuncios, Fotocasa.”

“Time to look back to the crazy past 4 years. When I came into the role, there were 3 designers. No UX Research, no Design OPs, no UX Writing, no Figma, no Design System. Our brand was borrowed from EBay and the visual style was the one that EBay had abandoned a few years ago. The website looked predominantly blue while the apps were completely green.”

“All of that has changed since then. Adevinta bought us and I was given the opportunity to hire ~20 of the best UX designers, researchers, design OPs and writers in Germany. Together we created a UX culture, vital research habits across the company, a design system and so much more. As a team, we were even given the chance to reinvent Kleinanzeigen as a new brand. I appreciate all of those who generously contributed their skills, passion, and knowledge. We did this together!”
