South Africa-based auto marketplace Cars.co.za has inaugurated what it says its “first public-facing space” to give its users and visitors a touchpoint to the brand.

The new Cape Town office houses a car display floor to accommodate up to six cars, a coffee bar and a podcast studio.

“The place also functions as a base for regional sales team and developers who choose to live in the Western Cape,” Hannes Oosthuizen wrote in an email to the AIM Group.

“[This] allows us to engage with clients and fans in a more direct way. We also seek to host events in the space, and it includes a retail element. The opportunity does exist to rent out the space to OEMs and create packages around a physical display combined with social media and traditional digital content exposure across our channels,” he added.

Cars.co.za, founded in 2009, is a marketplace for buying and selling used and new cars. Individuals can sell cars to dealers and privately through a paid ad.

With average monthly visits of 4.5 million over three months to January, Cars.co.za is the second largest auto marketplace in South Africa after AutoTrader.co.za whose traffic averaged 8.4 million during the same period, according to Similarweb.
