India-based used car marketplace Cars24 is piloting a service that allows car owners to hire drivers through an app.

Inc42 reports that Autopilot Driver is being piloted in Gurugram, where Cars24 is headquartered. It adds that the company is planning to launch the service nationwide in the coming months.

The Autopilot Driver app, which is currently available on the Google Play Store, allows car owners to hire drivers for one-way, round and day trips. At the time of writing, the app had more than1,000 downloads with a rating of 4.5.

Cars24 said it ran background checks on drivers and put them through a driving test before onboarding them.

Last month, Cars24 partnered with car rental company ZoomCar to sell certified used cars and assist in financing, and in November 2023, it launched a vehicle scrappage scheme.

Earlier this month, the company partnered with Credgenics, a SaaS-based debt collection and resolution agency, to address the issue of bad loans.

Founded in 2015, Cars24 was initially a b-to-b marketplace but later shifted to a c-to-b-to-c model. Its consolidated operating revenue rose by 7.8% year on year to INR55.3 billion ($664 million U.S.) in the 12 months to March 2023.
