Auto Trader has appointed two new independent non-executive directors to its board.

Geeta Gopalan (pictured) will join the board from May 1st. She will take up the position of senior independent director and remuneration committee chair after the company’s 2024 AGM on September 19, subject to shareholder approval.

Gopalan is currently a non-executive director (NED) at Funding Circle and Virgin Money. She will step down from the role at Virgin Money on June 30th and start a further NED role at the NatWest Group from July 1st. She has previously been a NED at Dechra Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Ultra Electronics Plc, Wizink Bank SA, and Vocalink.

Amanda James will join the board on July 1st and will become the chair of Auto Trader’s audit committee, subject to shareholder approval following the company AGM on September 19th.

James is currently CFO at Next Plc, a U.K. fashion retailer and FTSE 100 company. James will retire from Next in September and will step down from its board on July 26th. James has also been appointed as a NED and audit committee member for British Land Company plc from July 1st.

The appointments are part pf the board’s long-term plans as existing NED’s David Keens and Jill Easterbrook reach the end of their third three-year terms in 2024 and will not stand for re-election at the 2024 AGM. Both will also join the audit, remuneration, corporate responsibility and nomination committees.

Once the new appointments take effect, Auto Trader’s board will be made up of seven NED’s, three executive directors and a non-executive chair.

“I am delighted to welcome both Geeta and Amanda to the Board. Between them they have a vast amount of valuable experience across the worlds of digital innovation, finance, consumer and retail, and we look forward very much to benefitting from their expertise,” said Auto Trader chair Matt Davies.
