Nigeria-based auto marketplace CarMart.ng has rebranded as CarMart.Africa to facilitate its expansion across the continent.

CarMart announced the change on its Instagram account last month.

“We’ve successfully transitioned from CarMart.ng to CarMart.Africa. Our new domain reflects our expanded vision and commitment to serving not just Nigeria but the entire African continent with top-notch automotive services and solutions,” it wrote.

The move seems obvious as auto groups are investing in expansion. In April, Nigeria-based AutoChek acquired Egypt-based AutoTager. This followed certified used-car specialist Auto24.Africa’s acquisition of Tanzania-based general classifieds site Kupatana.com.

Founded in 2019, CarMart is the market leader in Nigeria by traffic, according to Similarweb data, well ahead of CarnotAutoMart.com, Cars.ng and NigeriaCarMart.com. Cars45.com, the auto vertical of marketplace horizontal Jiji.ng, also has a strong presence in the local market.
