Red flags for Bitauto and Yixin

Yixin Group is reporting 3.9 billion RMB ($620 million U.S.) in revenues in FY2017, up 162 percent year-over year. This was driven by rapid growth in transactions business, which recorded revenues of 963 million RMB ($152 million U.S.), up 354 percent year-over-year. Bitauto credited this to the “rapid expansion of Yixin [Group]'s transaction platform and self-operated financing business” as the company pushes its flagship platform Taoche.com toward a transaction-led model. In 2017, Yixin reportedly facilitated 490,000 retail transactions and auto-related transactions, up 88 percent from the year before.

Autohome elevates financing to key focus

Despite a shakeup at the highest echelons of the company, Beijing-based automotive information and transaction platform Autohome (汽车之家, NYSE: BABA) maintained its consistent growth rate in Q2 of FY2017. Revenue increased 37 percent year-over-year to 1.5 billion RMB ($226 million U.S.), exceeding the company’s guidance for the year of 28 percent. Net income attributable to Autohome during the quarter increased 50 percent year-over-year to 518 million RMB.
