Deb Liu appointed VP of Facebook Marketplace

Deb Liu, the Facebook exec who had been running the company’s Marketplace classified app, has been promoted. She is now formally the VP of Marketplace. Liu had previously been in charge of Facebook Platform. Taking her place will be Eddie O’Neil, a six-year Facebook veteran was previously a director of product management at the company.

EBay partners to bring African products to US market

The marketplace EBay partnered with pan-African e-commerce site MallforAfrica to give locally-made African products better access to the U.S. market. Earlier this week, intercontinental trade began with two categories only, namely the fashion and style categories, and vendors from five African countries, namely South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and Burundi.

Flipkart’s Anil Goteti to head up EBay India

The merger of EBay India with Flipkart was officially clinched last week, and this week Flipkart appointed Anil Goteti, head of its marketplace division, retail products and operations, as head of EBay in India, reported Economic Times. Vidmay Naini, EBay India's current country manager, will report to Goteti.

Hein Pretorius is new CEO of Hepsiburada.com

Hepsiburada.com, one of the biggest online retailers in Turkey, appointed Hein Pretorius as CEO of the company. Pretorius, who served on the Hepsiburada advisory board between February and his appointment as CEO, was CEO of MIH Internet Group in Europe (a Naspers company) until 2014. He will start in his new position soon. Hepsiburada is a business of Doğan Online.
