Naspers-owned general marketplace OLX on Tuesday informed employees in Nigeria and Kenya, its largest African markets after South Africa, it had decided to shut down physical operations with immediate effect. Sites will be managed from South Africa.

Safaricom to launch site for new, used goods in Kenya

Kenya-based Safaricom Ltd, operator of M-Pesa, Africa's leading mobile-money service, unveiled a very ambitious plan to enter the market for online marketplaces in Kenya in Q1 of 2018. It will launch a horizontal marketplace for both used and new goods and call it Masoko ("markets" in Swahili).
