Movinga raises $26 million US after restructuring

Movinga, the German relocation platform backed by Rocket Internet, raised €22 million ($26 million U.S.) in a funding round, reported Gruenderszene this week (in German). Company management claims the restructuring is on track and that it expects to generate revenue of €20 million ($23 million U.S.) in FY2017.



Shopee owner files for IPO and listing on NYSE

Singapore-based Sea Group, formerly known as Garena, officially filed for its much-anticipated listing on a stock exchange in the U.S.. The company, which is valued at about $3.75 billion U.S., will list on the New York Stock Exchange (ticker code SE), and is looking to raise $1 billion U.S..

Rocket Internet (Code: RKET), released the financial results of Jumia Group for H1 of FY2017 (to end June) in Berlin yesterday. It was the first ever glimpse in the books of Jumia Group, a company with operations in more than 30 countries (mostly in Africa) and 3,000 employees. As expected, Jumia Group suffered a big loss in H1 of FY2017 - in euro terms. On a forex-neutral basis, the picture wasn't all that bad.

Jumia Kenya merges platforms without cutting jobs

Jumia Group, operator of nine subsidiaries in 33 countries in Africa, merged the marketplace Jumia Market in Kenya with its online shop Jumia in the same country, in a move aimed at reaching profitability sooner. After the merger, Jumia Market (with listings for new and used goods) still operates in 13 other countries in Africa.
