Jonathan Turpin

Jonathan has more than 20 years experience leading digital businesses, working across the media, data and software-as-a-service

 (SaaS) sectors. 

His work in media started earlier still, first as a management consultant in the global media and entertainment practice of Arthur D. Little, and then as a strategist for the BBC.

Web Pioneer

At the BBC, Jonathan was part of the team that developed its first major online service, launched under the brand and later subsumed into The team pioneered online news, sport and entertainment for the BBC, and launched an Internet Service Provider. As Commercial Director for, Jonathan was also a pioneer in the development of online revenue streams for media services.

Online Classifieds Pioneer

On leaving the BBC, Jonathan launched the online classified service for the UK’s regional press, operating across the automotive, homes and recruitment sectors. He ran the fish4 joint venture for nine years as Chief Executive, and in particular built fish4jobs into the highest traffic recruitment website of its time in the UK.

Digital & SaaS Business Leader

Subsequently, Jonathan led AOL’s pan-European project to launch free portals to replace its walled subscription service; was Digital Director for Bauer Radio (formerly EMAP Radio), where he launched an innovative freemium recruitment classifieds service combining radio and online advertising; and was Chief Executive of home moving service, delivering pre- and post-move lead generation and home-mover data.

Jonathan has also been Commercial Director and CFO of Qinec (now Lumeon) where he helped launch the UK’s leading SaaS platform for care pathway management, now used by many of the UK’s leading healthcare providers, and was COO of Finworks delivering SaaS workflow and data services for government and other major enterprises.

Experienced Consultant

Over his career, Jonathan has provided consultancy to various media companies, including developing the strategy for, and then steering the successful re-launch of, the recruitment business of one of the UK’s largest B2B magazine business. He particularly likes working with entrepreneurial product and commercial teams on launches, and has extensive experience in researching and developing new business concepts, business planning, due diligence, fundraising and executing service launches.
